Instructions for the Montessori feeler letters

The sandpaper letters are introduced with the 3 step lesson.
Three very different letter boards are picked out and placed on the table.

1st stage: This is
The adult traces the first letter with the index and middle finger and names it (this is the e / this is the small e). He hands the blackboard to the child. If this has also followed the letter, the next two will be done in the same way.

2nd level: give me / show me:

please give me the e / please put the i under the chair ...

3rd level: what is that ?:

The adult points to a letter and asks for its name (what is the name of this Letter? What is it? What do you call it?).

Initially, the exercise should be carried out with a maximum of 3 letters. More and more can be added later.

Variations:
If the sandpaper capital letters are already available, the three-step lesson can be done with one or two pairs of letters (e.g. E, e and O, o) (this is the capital e, this is the small e ...).

A sheet is placed over a letter board. The letter is hatched through by painting over it with a colored pencil.

The letter can be rewritten in a sand tray.

Draw letters with your finger on the child's back (start with simple letters that the child already knows well).
