Numerical bars, long, large blue-red bars for understanding value and length, including practical number tables

A material that is particularly suitable for beginning math exercises. It conveys the significance of the individual numbers from 1 to 10 based on the length of the individual numerical bar. This large variant is particularly suitable for working on the floor.

An adult presents the individual bars and names them with their value. The smallest rod has the value 1, the largest rod has the value 10. The child's task is to put them in the correct order or to find individual rods according to their value.

Scope of the Montessori material:
10 sticks blue / red, wood, (largest: approx. 100 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm, smallest: 10 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm)
10 number boards with the numbers 1 - 10, wood, about 7 x 6 cm

Instructions for the large numeric bars

The poles are mixed and placed on the carpet. An adult takes the longest, runs his hand over the bar and places it in front of him.
Then he takes the next shorter one, runs his hand over it and places it left-justified under the first one.
He continues like this until the shortest rod is reached.

The staircase created by the differences in length is now illustrated by tracing it by hand.

As control of success, the adult takes the shortest pole and attaches it to the next larger one. Both rods together now result in the length of the next one.

After that, the bars are shuffled again and given to the child.

Three-stage lesson:

1st stage - This is ...:
The adult takes the smallest pole and the next two larger ones and places them on the table.
He takes out a stick, for example, the three, and begins to count them down. To do this, he grips the first red box on the pole with his left hand (one), then with his right hand the blue one (two) and again with his left hand the last box (three). This is what happens to all of the three rods. Then the bars are put down again.
Now he runs his hand over the bars and says aloud your value, e.g. This is one - this is two - this is three.

2nd stage - Show me ...:
Depending on the child's safety, the bars may be mixed again. Please give me the three - please put the one on the chair - please give me the two - please get the three and put them next to the one ...

3rd step - What is that? :
The adult points to a pole and asks: What is it?
