Sensory experiences are particularly important for children.

The tactile tablets help to train the sense of touch and to name surfaces. The challenge with the tactile tablets is to find two tactile tablets with the same surface finish. The tactile tablets are presented to the child in a jumble.

The task of the child is to find the right pairs together. Alternatively, it can also be sorted according to the nature of the surface. The adult takes the tactile tablets out of the box and puts them on the table. Now he picks out the pairs and separates them by placing five of the tactile tablets in a row in front of him and laying the other five tablets in a stack on the side. Now he takes one of the tactile tablets from the stack and pushes it under the first tablet in the row. He runs three fingers (either index, middle and ring finger or thumb, index and middle finger) of one hand (depending on whether left- or right-handed) over the upper tablet. Then he moves over the underlying tablet and compares whether they are the same. When they are even, he puts the pair of tactile tablets aside and takes the next tablet from the stack and starts again. If the tablets are different, however, the lower one is simply pushed to the next one in the row and compared until the matching tablet is found. Once all pairs have been found, the tiles are separated again and set up as described above. Now it is handed over to the child. Variations: The child is asked to sort the tactile tablets from fine to coarse (or vice versa). For children with poor concentration, it is advisable to do the exercises blindfolded, so the distracting sense of sight is switched off.
