Instructions for the Montessori heat transfer tablets

The thermal panels are laid out on the table or work carpet in a mixed manner. An adult can be blindfolded by the child. Now he takes a tablet and puts his hand on it. The adult tells the child I'm now looking for the tablet that feels just as cold or warm as this one. When the corresponding tablet is found, both are placed as a pair. This exercise is repeated until all tablets are in pairs. Now the blindfold is removed and the adult can check whether he has found the right tablets.

The child is now encouraged to do the exercise themselves.

Variations:

The child is asked to describe the different temperature sensations. 

(Speech formation warm, warmer, warmest and coldest, colder, coldest)

For children with impaired sensation in their hands, it is advisable to leave out the blindfold for the time being.

The child is asked to sort the heat transfer tablets according to their temperature sensitivity (cold - warm, or warm - cold).
